The Research Compliance Analyst 3 – Export Control will support the institution's compliance with U.S. export control regulations, providing expert guidance and developing procedures to ensure that research activities align with federal laws.

Responsibilities

Supports the development and revision of procedures, policies, and guidelines related to export control compliance
Provides education and training on export control compliance for investigators through the development and delivery of face-to-face training, on-line educational materials, printed materials and other web-based resources
Applies professional knowledge of export control regulations to determine compliance responsibilities, classify technology and controlled items, apply for licenses as needed, advise other units on export control provisions in contract language, and respond to government information requests
Evaluates emerging and critical technologies for potential export control classification, licensing requirements, and applicability of new or evolving federal controls
Provides general administrative support and customer service (e.g., general email responses, record keeping, answering phone calls, supporting committee operations, and preparation of decision letters.)

Required

Demonstrates self-discipline and sound, independent judgment in completing assignments
Thorough knowledge of and/or can quickly learn and ability to apply all of the applicable federal, state, and university regulations, policies, and guidelines to export control issues associated with campus research projects
Thorough knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research design, scientific research concepts and terminology
Demonstrated proficiency in public speaking, writing and campus online systems
Ability to effectively prioritize workload and competing deadlines (i.e., excellent time management and organizational skills)
Ability to work with a variety of customers/stakeholders with excellent customer service skills
Ability to understand and evaluate emerging and critical technologies (e.g., advanced computing, AI, quantum, semiconductors, advanced materials, biotech) in order to assess export control implications and classification requirements
At least one year, full-time, of relevant compliance experience in export control fields
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training

Preferred

Relevant compliance certification (if applicable)
