The role involves reviewing, recommending charges, and prosecuting a high volume of criminal misdemeanor and traffic cases under supervision, as well as engaging in various legal proceedings and negotiations.

Responsibilities
Represents the State in misdemeanor docket, Director of Revenue cases, jury trials, motion and bond hearings, preliminary hearings, and guilty pleas
Reviews cases to determine trial strategies, subpoena witnesses, and to request additional investigations
Negotiates with defense attorneys
Interviews witnesses and victims. Meets with witnesses, victims, and law enforcement regarding court appearances
Discusses plea negotiations with victims
Visits crime scenes and examines evidence
Handles depositions
Researches various points of law, prepares motions, appeals, responses and arguments
Prepares legal briefs and memos
Prepares and files criminal charges
Prepares charged cases for hearings/ bench trials and jury trials
Prepares and conducts court dockets
Reviews warrant applications for charges. Assists with the preparation and review of search warrants for law enforcement
Provides training for law enforcement
Attends and participates in continuing education
Assists other prosecutors with applicable docket
Prepares, files and argues conviction appeals
Reviews case law and statute changes
Participates in on-call rotation
Maintains filing system
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and Missouri license to practice law
Missouri Law license
Employment is contingent on successfully passing a full criminal background check
Preferred
One year prosecution experience preferred, or four years general law practice experience preferred
Prefer considerable prosecution experience
