Administrative Veterans Service Representative

Virginia Department of Veterans Services is dedicated to serving Virginia’s veterans, their dependents, and family members. The Administrative Veterans Service Representative will provide administrative support for the Benefits service line, educate clients on available services, and assist in the preparation and tracking of claims and supporting documentation.

Responsibilities

Serve Virginia’s veterans, their dependents and family members by ensuring they receive the benefits, support, quality care, and recognition they have earned through their service and sacrifice
To provide administrative support for the Benefits service line, headquarters operations and assigned office(s)
To educate veterans and dependents on the services and benefits offered by Virginia and the federal government
To assists clients in accessing of all lawful and ethical claims and benefits to which they are entitled
To assist Veterans Service Representatives in the preparation and tracking of claims and supporting documentation

Required

Working knowledge of office administration practices and procedures and some knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to veterans' benefits is preferred
Working skills with word processing equipment and office automated office systems
Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, regulations and procedures
Ability to communicate effectively with staff, agency officials and the public
Experience in interviewing individuals and compiling and presenting information obtained
Customer service skills
Occasional community outreach to include some weekends or holidays is required, as directed
A new probationary period will be required for all new Benefits employees who have not completed and currently maintain USDVA Accreditation, regardless of whether the employee has previously completed a state probationary period
REAL ID is required for employment as a part of the federal prerequisites for USDVA Accreditation
