Traveling Substation Lead

Talent Bridge is hiring for one of their clients an experienced Traveling Substation Lead to oversee and lead field operations on commercial and utility-scale substation projects across the United States. This senior leadership role requires deep technical expertise and strong crew management skills, with a focus on safety, quality, and schedule adherence.

Responsibilities

Lead on-site execution of substation construction projects from mobilization through completion
Supervise, mentor, and coordinate electricians and subcontractors in the field
Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical specifications accurately
Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of substation equipment and systems
Ensure full compliance with NEC, OSHA, and project-specific safety standards
Coordinate daily activities with Project Managers, engineers, inspectors, and client representatives
Monitor productivity, quality control, and jobsite performance to prevent delays
Maintain accurate daily reports, safety logs, and time records
Lead jobsite safety meetings and enforce a strong safety-first culture
Manage tools, materials, and equipment inventory at project sites
Represent the client professionally with strong technical leadership in the field

Required

Minimum 5 years of substation construction experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role
In-depth knowledge of substation components including transformers, switchgear, breakers, grounding systems, wiring, and regulators
Strong safety awareness and proven leadership capability
Ability to read and interpret electrical and construction drawings
Excellent communication, organizational, and team management skills
High accountability for safety, quality, and schedule performance
Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Willingness to travel 100% nationwide and work extended field hours

Preferred

OSHA 30 Certification
Experience leading electrical utility or high-voltage crews
Familiarity with utility provider standards and substation commissioning processes
