Staff Accountant- Lease and Financial Reporting

Thrive Pet Healthcare is dedicated to providing quality veterinary care and is seeking a Staff Accountant to support month-end and post-close activities. The role involves preparing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and assisting with financial reports, all while contributing to process improvements within the organization.

Responsibilities

Manage sublease accounts receivable balances and coordinate with the Real Estate Manager to report outstanding receivable sublease amounts
Prepare monthly utilities accrual and review utilities expenses for overall reasonableness
Oversee leasing activities for Medical Equipment within the company’s leasing system
Maintain and update leasing deposit balances based on real estate activity
Maintain the prepaid insurance balance and ensure proper amortization of the Company’s policies
Assist in preparing monthly and quarterly financial statements and completing related tie‑outs
Contribute to month, quarter, and year-end general ledger closing processes including analysis of financial information and summarizing status
Prepare audit support for external financial statement audits
Assist with process improvement and automation initiatives
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

Required

Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting
BA/BS degree in accounting required
Proficient in Microsoft office including advanced skills in Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables)
Ability to work independently and take ownership of processes
Adapt to process changes quickly and confidently
Possess excellent critical thinking/problem solving skills
Eagerness to work in a high-volume, complex environment
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deliverables
Assists with ad hoc projects and requests from upper management as needed

Preferred

Workday software experience is a plus
Experience with leasing software like Visual Lease or Co Star is a plus
A general understanding of GAAP and the ability to apply accounting principles in practice is strongly preferred
