Traveling Substation Lead

Talent Bridge is seeking an experienced Traveling Substation Lead to oversee and lead field operations across nationwide commercial and utility-scale substation projects. This high-impact, field-based position requires deep technical expertise in substation construction and strong crew management skills to ensure projects are delivered safely and on schedule.

Staffing & Recruiting

Responsibilities

Provide on-site leadership for substation construction projects from mobilization through completion
Supervise, mentor, and coordinate electricians and subcontractors in the field
Interpret and execute work based on electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical specifications
Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of substation components
Ensure compliance with NEC, OSHA, and applicable safety and quality standards
Coordinate daily activities with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders
Monitor productivity, quality control, and project timelines; proactively resolve issues
Maintain daily reports including progress logs, safety documentation, and time records
Lead jobsite safety meetings and enforce a strong safety-first culture
Manage tools, equipment, and material inventory at project sites
Represent the client organization professionally on all job sites

Required

Minimum 5 years of substation construction experience
At least 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience in the field
Strong knowledge of substation systems including switchgear, breakers, transformers, regulators, wiring, and grounding systems
Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills
Advanced ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and construction documents
High level of accountability for safety, quality, and schedule adherence
Detail-oriented, reliable, and self-directed
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Willingness to travel 100% and work extended hours as required

Preferred

OSHA 30 Certification
Experience managing electrical utility crews
Familiarity with utility provider standards and substation commissioning processes
