Responsibilities

Aircraft Mechanic II (SMM) personnel shall perform a full range of aircraft sheet metal duties including, but not limited to, disassemble, modify, repair, and reassemble complex aircraft metal items and systems, e.g., bulkheads, airframes, spars, air scoops, wings, flaps, pylons, sponsons, fuselages, skins, ribs, gussets, and fuel tanks
These items and systems have combined straight and curved edges and irregular curves and planes
A Sheet Metal Mechanic personnel shall analyze and evaluate structural damage to metal systems and items; develop patterns using a combination of parallel and radial line development; fabricate, install, and repair a variety of items and systems made from a wide variety of metals, e.g., stainless steel, copper sheet, magnesium, honeycomb, alloys, aluminum; replace sections and patch old systems; cut, bend, shape, and form metals for items that have numerous irregular angles, planes, and curves with varying pitch and circumference; use a variety of assembly joints, complex fastening systems, riveted or welded joints, drill or punch holes; and assemble or repair items by seaming, soldering, bolting, screwing, riveting, tacking, and spot welding
Assembly methods shall meet appearance and strength standards, as well as critical tolerances
As a condition of employment Contractor personnel will be required to pass a FRCSW administered certification skills examination
Contractor personnel shall use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, protractors, snap ring, height, depth, dial and screw pitch gauges, squares, rulers, trammel points, and sine bars
Must be able to perform all duties associated with aircraft sheet metal support on F-18 Naval Type Model Series aircraft
Maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate to complex difficulty, including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatic, fuel systems and mechanical components
Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and discrepancies
Applies required expertise in restoring aircraft component condition and or operation
Applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, Local Engineering Instructions, and work orders in manufacturing aircraft sheet metal structures
Manufactures and installs new parts and reinforcing, patching, and replacing defective parts, applies accurate riveting techniques for proper spacing, fit, durability, structural soundness, and appearance
Comply with all required trainings and other administrative functions required by the company and the costumer
Assist in maintaining NAMP Programs, ensure contract artisans follows Ground Operating Procedures, and ensure personnel comply with safety procedures

Required

High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum experience or military experience as aircraft airframes or sheet metal mechanic
Security Clearance
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data system
Must be a US Citizen
Must be able to pass a NACI which could include a credit check

Possesses both analytical and interpersonal skills
Good problem solving, negotiation and organizational skills/techniques
Working knowledge with computer
Working knowledge with Advance Skill Management (ASM) or willing to learn the functions
Ability to perform research, a working knowledge with electronic publications like Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM), knowledge in navigating NATEC website to access Technical Publications, service bulletins, technical publications, blueprints, IPB (Illustrated Parts Breakdown), MIM (Maintenance Instruction), LES (Local Engineering Specifications), LPS (Local Process Specifications) and TEI (Temporary Engineering Instructions)
English language skills to communicate with customers
Strong communicator must be able to communicate clearly both in writing and orally
