Responsibilities
Responsible for abstracting and coding clinical and research data from patient medical records using established classification systems
Ensures data quality through interactive reviews and enters information in coded form according to institutional, state, and accreditation guidelines
May also contribute to special projects
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or Equivalent
2 years Experience in tumor registry, healthcare or related field
Demonstrate accuracy in abstracting and coding clinical and research data from patient records using standardized classification systems, ensuring data quality and compliance with institutional, state, and accreditation standards
Preferred
Associate's Degree
College courses in medical terminology, anatomy or physiology
Strong Preference - BS degree in a basic science or a foreign medical degree
Strong Preference - Medical terminology, background in hematologic malignancies
Prior experience working in hematologic malignancies such as leukemia, myeloma, or lymphoma
A background in blood cancers is strongly desired
