Lead Vegetation Management Technician
Cannon Valley Graziers is a land management company headquartered in southern Minnesota, focused on improving biodiversity, soil health, and water quality. They are seeking an experienced Lead Vegetation Technician to oversee field operations on solar vegetation-management projects, ensuring safety, quality control, and effective crew management.

Responsibilities
Set the daily pace for mowing operations, balancing productivity, safety, and quality
Lead by example through precise equipment operation and professional conduct
Monitor technician performance and provide feedback to the Regional Project Supervisor
Coordinate with other Crew Leads and supervisors to reallocate resources when production slows
Develop weekly crew schedules in collaboration with the Regional Project Supervisor, accounting for crew availability and project deadlines
Serve as the primary trainer for new hires, providing close supervision for their first ~20 hours to ensure safe and efficient operation
Oversee and execute the safe transport of heavy equipment (tractors, skid-loaders, & mowers) between sites
Ensure DOT compliance, proper tie-downs, and transport safety
Identify and communicate site hazards to the crew
Ensure all work meets scope, quality standards, and client requirements
Provide on-site coaching to other team members
Maintain work records and distribute internally as needed
Use reporting and mapping tools to document work
Ensure crew vehicles are stocked with necessary tools, PPE, and spare parts
Hold technicians accountable for completing daily tailgate inspections
Troubleshoot and complete minor field repairs to keep operations moving efficiently
Coordinate with the O&M Lead and Regional Project Supervisor before equipment or supply replacements are needed
Perform herbicide application as needed, targeting noxious weeds, vines & woody species
Safely mix, load, store, and transport herbicides in compliance with all regulations
Maintain SDS binders and ensure applicator PPE is present, inspected, and functional
Qualification
Required
Minimum 2-years experience in a related field
Valid Drivers License
Plant Identification: Must be familiar with native plant systems found in the upper midwest, and have the ability to identify noxious weeds
Applicators License: Must hold a Minnesota Pesticide Applicators License, or must be willing to obtain one
Leadership: Must have the ability to work well with a team and lead by example
Preferred
Class A CDL preferred
