Intern - Assessment & Referral Clinician

The Intern - Assessment & Referral Clinician will be responsible for triage, assessment, and referral services for patients, demonstrating excellent customer service and collaboration in a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

Ability to work collaboratively with other community agencies on behalf of clients and/or the organization
Professionally and calmly handles crisis calls to determine appropriate next steps in the assessment process
Conduct face-to-face and telephone consultation with patients in crisis/psychiatric emergency to assess their clinical condition and to recommend the appropriate level of clinical care
Coordinate admissions and/or intakes, including interfacing with insurance and managed care companies for authorization
Refer patients to outpatient services, either within or outside the system when necessary
Ensures that medical record documentation protocols are complied with. Ensures that persons’ assessment information is entered into the medical records on a timely basis and in accordance with established organizational and departmental procedures
Ability to respond to a range of clients' needs using differential diagnoses and treatment approaches
Ability to effectively organize time, responsibilities, and accomplish task by established deadlines and timeframes
Works effectively and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team to insure excellent patient experience
Demonstrate understanding of sound ethical practice in conjunction with the established and defined ethics of one's training, discipline, and education/license level
As Contact Center is open 24/7, intern may be required to work evenings and weekends
Participates regularly in departmental and staff meetings. Serves on programs or organizational committees as required and as time and workload allow
Must maintain annual training and demonstrate competency in the required programmatic training

Required

Currently enrolled in an accredited Master's Level Psychology or Social Work program
