Shelter Insurance Companies is seeking a Remittance Specialist to accurately and timely process payments received through various methods. The role involves preparing, correcting, researching, and reconciling transactions related to payment processing.

Responsibilities

Perform all duties associated with accurate and timely processing of payments received by Shelter Insurance Companies via electronic methods and/or manual payments

Prepare, correct, research and reconcile a variety of systems and/or transactions used to process payments daily including but not limited to miscellaneous checks, Check 21 transactions, payment error advice slips, orphan payments, Remote Payment and Presentment Service/Electronic Payment Delivery, and mortgagee database

Coordinate all facets and duties associated with remittance processing functions

Required

Basic math skills and accounting skills for balancing large sums of money

Visual acuity and analytical skills for reviewing renewal notices and checks, determining appropriate procedure for handling

Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet daily deadlines

Investigative and problem-solving skills are necessary to determine sources of errors and make decisions for correcting

Accountable for complete follow-up when transactions/batches do not balance. Determines cause and procedure for corrections

Ability to keep a steady work schedule with regular, predictable attendance to ensure a steady workflow and minimal disruption to department schedules and deadlines

Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without a reasonable accommodation
