Marine Machinery Mechanic Leader

The U.S. Coast Guard is seeking a Marine Machinery Mechanic Leader to work within the Department of Homeland Security's Industrial Department. Responsibilities

Passing supervisor's instructions on to workers, working with others and setting the pace; demonstrating proper work methods, making sure that the needed blueprints, tools and materials are available
Independently reassembling and installing equipment, connecting the power sources, performing operational and functional tests, and making required adjustments in order to ensure proper operation of the entire system
Diagnosing malfunctions with computerized equipment and electronic diagnostic systems
Using precision test and measuring instruments such as levels, feeler gauges, tachometers and calipers, height gauges, depth gauges, verniers and micrometers to repair, adjust and test shipboard equipment and machinery such as cargo handling machinery, and fire fighting equipment

Required

Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must be registered or exempt from the Selective Service
A one-year probationary period may be required

Technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (includes blueprint reading)
Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment
Knowledge of materials
