Pretrial Officer

Responsibilities
Face-to-face supervision of youth on pretrial status and monitor compliance with court-ordered conditions
Conduct field-based visitation including home visits, school visits, and other required community contacts while verifying compliance such as school attendance, and curfew through direct contact and collateral verification
Maintain routine communication with youth and parent/guardian to support compliance and accountability
Prepare timely, accurate, and factual documentation for court hearings and case updates
Provide sworn testimonies in court as needed regarding factual case information and documented compliance activities
Coordinate with court stakeholders, schools, service providers, and internal team members to support case requirements
Provide referrals and resource information to youth and families as appropriate
Maintain confidentiality and complete case documentation in accordance with policy and procedures
Qualification
Required
High School diploma or GED and 5 years' experience working with youth in a juvenile justice, school, or recreational setting
The selected candidate must be able to work independently, demonstrate strong professionalism, and maintain accurate documentation in a fast-paced environment
Daily driving throughout the county and conducting field-based visitation, including home visits, school visits, court attendance, and community partner meetings
Some evenings and weekends may be required based on court needs, supervision schedules, or needs of the organization

In accordance with Department of Juvenile Justice regulations, the selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment background check, including local, state, and federal criminal clearances, before receiving a final offer
A valid driver's license is required, and the incumbent must be able to operate a county vehicle as needed
Preferred
Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, or related field
1-3 years of progressively responsible experience in working with and providing case management services to at-risk youth
Bilingual proficiency (Spanish/English preferred)
Demonstrated excellent customer service skills, including the ability to engage youth and families with professionalism, empathy, and respect in challenging or sensitive situations
Strong time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize competing deadlines, manage a high-volume workload, and ensure timely documentation and follow-up
Experience working with justice-involved youth, families, or vulnerable populations in court services, probation, youth services, social services, or related settings
Knowledge of juvenile justice processes, court procedures, and confidentiality standards
Strong computer/technology skills, including experience using Microsoft Office Suite
Strong written communication skills, including experience preparing reports, case notes, and court-ready documentation
Excellent driving record and the ability to operate a vehicle for a long duration of a workday
