Procurement Specialist (Administrative Specialist I)

The Nebraska Department of Education is seeking a Procurement Specialist to support purchasing and procurement operations. This role involves managing contracts, purchase orders, and vendor relationships to ensure efficient and compliant purchasing activities.

Responsibilities

Processes, routes, and maintains Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) contracts and contract payments, including entering into tracking systems and the State of Nebraska accounting system
Facilitates agency-wide Purchase Procedures. Creates and processes purchase orders in compliance with state policies and procedures, and processes purchase order payments
Contacts vendors to place orders, review invoices, and troubleshoot issues (e.g., agency-wide Office Depot invoices, furniture orders from Cornhusker State Industries).Supports procurement activities and assists with monitoring and responding to procurement helpdesk tickets
Assists with managing processes and transactions for agency-wide credit cards (i.e., purchasing card, p-card), including contacting State Accounting to remove or increase limitations
Provides technical assistance and support related to employee telephones including researching and ordering phones, and disseminating phone bills from the Department of Administrative Services to each Office
Maintains databases and spreadsheets for organization and record retention
Maintains regular & reliable attendance, travels independently, and works in a variety of settings

Required

Associate's degree in a related field
two years of experience related to the essential functions of the position
Any equivalent education and/or work experience may be substituted in order to meet the minimum qualifications of the position

Experience with procurement and contracts within a government agency
