Lead Mechanical Engineer

Eaton is a company in the Industrial Controls Division seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer for their Menomonee Falls, WI location. This role involves the design, simulation, implementation, and validation of mechanical components associated with power electronics, while also engaging in new product development and supporting existing products.

Responsibilities

Design, validate, and release mechanical/electro-mechanical portions of product designs using appropriate mechanical design and product lifecycle management tools
Conduct simulations related to mechanical, electro-mechanical, and thermal aspects of designs
Direct and collaborate with lab personnel to develop and perform tests validating product functionality
Establish and document new product requirements at both system and subsystem levels
Utilize Eaton’s NPD process as a framework for product development
Apply knowledge of industry and certification standards (UL, CE, IEC, etc.) to ensure compliance
Learn and apply Design for Six Sigma concepts
Develop project and product cost estimates and time estimates
Coordinate and communicate with other disciplines to ensure project success

Required

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
Minimum of 3 years of experience in designing electro-mechanical systems

Preferred

Experience designing electro-mechanical systems related to power electronics, electrotechnical and solid-state components (housings, packaging, thermal bus/bar and heat sink designs)
Experience and knowledge related to structured new product development processes
DFSS or DMAIC knowledge/certification
