Responsibilities
Design, deploy, and support VMware-based environments including vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and Horizon VDI
Lead VM lifecycle management activities including provisioning, capacity planning, performance tuning, patching, upgrades, and troubleshooting
Implement and maintain high availability, disaster recovery, and resiliency features across virtualized environments
Engineer and administer enterprise server platforms (Dell, HPE, Cisco, Nutanix, IBM), with a strong focus on compute capacity, performance optimization, and hardware lifecycle management
Perform server builds, firmware and BIOS updates, hardware refreshes, and break/fix support
Partner with architecture and operations teams to align compute platforms with application and business requirements
Integrate virtualization platforms with SAN/NAS solutions such as NetApp ONTAP, Dell VxRail, Nutanix, HPE Alletra, IBM FlashSystem, and Pure Storage
Support data protection and recovery solutions including Rubrik, IBM Spectrum Protect (TSM), and Commvault
Ensure storage performance, availability, and data integrity in support of virtualized workloads
Monitor virtualization and compute environments using tools such as VMware Aria, OpsRamp, Lakeside, and Splunk
Analyze performance metrics and proactively implement tuning and optimization improvements
Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues across compute, virtualization, and storage layers
Support secure virtualization and compute configurations, including access controls and platform hardening
Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures
Collaborate closely with infrastructure, security, and application teams on cross-functional initiatives
Qualification
Required
7+ years of experience in enterprise IT infrastructure with a strong focus on virtualization and compute technologies
Deep hands-on experience with VMware vSphere and server infrastructure
Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
Preferred
Experienc e with automation and scripting tools such as PowerShell, Ansible, or Python
Background supporting environments in financial services or other highly regulated industries
