Traveling Substation Lead

Talent Bridge is hiring for an experienced Traveling Substation Lead to oversee commercial and utility-scale substation projects across the United States. This hands-on leadership role involves leading substation construction projects while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Staffing & Recruiting

Responsibilities

Lead substation construction projects from mobilization through completion
Supervise, mentor, and coordinate field electricians and subcontractors
Interpret and execute work based on electrical schematics, blueprints, and specifications
Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of substation components
Ensure strict compliance with NEC, OSHA, and internal safety standards
Coordinate daily activities with Project Managers, engineers, and clients
Monitor productivity, quality standards, and proactively resolve field issues
Maintain accurate daily documentation including progress logs, safety reports, and time records
Manage on-site tools, equipment, and inventory
Represent the organization professionally and technically in the field

Required

Minimum 5+ years of experience in substation construction
At least 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role
Strong technical knowledge of substation systems including switchgear, breakers, transformers, grounding, and related components
Proven ability to lead teams and enforce safety standards
Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical drawings and plans
Highly reliable, detail-oriented, and self-directed
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Willingness to travel 100% nationwide and work extended schedules

Preferred

OSHA 30 Certification
Experience managing utility crews
Familiarity with utility provider standards and substation commissioning processes
