Managing Director (CPA) – Small Business Advisory

NGA is a modern accounting and advisory firm focused on supporting Main Street businesses. They are seeking a licensed CPA to serve as a trusted advisor to small business owners, oversee a portfolio of clients, and lead a team of accounting and tax professionals.

Accounting

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary relationship owner for a portfolio of small business and individual clients
Work directly with owner-operators to understand their goals and challenges
Deliver practical, actionable advice across accounting, bookkeeping, tax preparation, and related non-attest services
Help clients make better decisions around cash flow, growth, and operations
Review and sign off on client work, ensuring quality, accuracy, and compliance
Partner with centralized teams to uphold firm standards and best practices
Proactively identify opportunities to expand advisory and recurring services
Supervise and mentor accountants and tax professionals responsible for day-to-day delivery
Support hiring, onboarding, and performance development
Foster a culture of accountability, learning, and exceptional client service
Serve as a continuity leader as retiring principals transition out
Help onboard clients and teams into modern tools, workflows, and pricing models
Act as a culture carrier — respecting legacy relationships while driving the firm forward
Build relationships in the local business community
Participate in events, conferences, and client outreach
Strengthen the firm’s reputation as a trusted advisor to Main Street businesses

Required

Active CPA license in good standing
10+ years of experience providing accounting, tax, and advisory services
Meaningful experience working directly with small and midsize businesses
Proven ability to own client relationships and lead teams
Strong communication skills and sound professional judgment

Preferred

Experience serving retail, hospitality, service, or other owner-operated businesses
Background in a growing, transitioning, or acquired firm
Comfort working within standardized systems and shared services
A commercial mindset and interest in advisory and recurring revenue
