Principal Manufacturing Engineer - Global Contract Mfg

Responsibilities
Design manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling
Design arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout
Design sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance
Adapt machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions
Incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan
Inspect performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality
Develop manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques
Provide guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques
Ensure processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations
Identify design and process optimization opportunities to improve safety quality and cost of the product and manufacturing line
Drive team accountability for process improvement and implementation, helping to communicate the importance of process development throughout the organization
Proactively identify and call out risks and issues to relevant stakeholders; lead development and delivery of tactical and achievable mitigation and contingency planning
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree required
Minimum of 7 years of relevant medical device manufacturing engineering experience or related field, or advanced degree with 5 years of relevant medical device manufacturing engineering experience or related field
Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills
Excellent problem solving capability
Demonstrated ability to work through influence, negotiation and partnering
Preferred
Experience working with or for large contract manufacturing organizations
Test and Tester development experience, with hardware and software
Experience working on a range of scale and complexity of product from large capital equipment to small, less complex consumables
Experience working with finished goods suppliers
Experience working on new product launches from early stage design evaluation to production start
Strong understanding of launch process requirements such PDP or equivalent
Strongly preferred to have project planning skills to prioritize tasks and establish framework and systems for managing areas of responsibility
Ability to travel 35% - 55%
