Responsibilities
Set up and manage DB2 subsystems, buffer pools, and storage groups
Monitor database performance and implement tuning measures
Optimize SQL queries and indexing strategies
Analyze workload and adjust system parameters for efficiency
Implement and manage backup and recovery procedures
Develop and test disaster recovery strategies
Manage user access controls and database security policies
Ensure compliance with data governance and audit requirements
Automate routine DBA tasks using scripting (e.g., REXX, Shell, Python)
Use monitoring tools to proactively detect and resolve issues
Work closely with application developers, system programmers, and infrastructure teams
Provide support during deployments, upgrades, and troubleshooting
Maintain documentation for configurations, procedures, and standards
Define and enforce database standards and best practices
Qualification
Required
15+ Years of experience
Need Only USC & GC
Strong experience with DB2 for z/OS (versions 10 through 12)
Proficiency in JCL, TSO/ISPF, VSAM, and DB2 utilities
Familiarity with SMP/E, RACF, and IBM mainframe tools
Knowledge of IBM MQ for z/OS, IMS, or CICS connectivity with DB2
Experience with DB2 DDF (Distributed Data Facility) and remote connectivity
5+ years of hands-on experience in DB2 database administration on z/OS
Experience with performance tuning, disaster recovery, and automation
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong communication and collaboration abilities
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Preferred
IBM Certified Database Administrator – DB2 for z/OS is a plus
