Program Manager
Piston Interiors is a member of the Piston Group of Companies, known for its collaborative and problem-solving environment. They are seeking a Program Manager to oversee program development, manage timelines and budgets, and ensure effective communication across teams while addressing any potential issues that arise during projects.
Responsibilities
Facilitate cradle to grave program development by scheduling and managing cross functional teams and gate review process. Document and follow-up on issues before and after the meeting. Ensure proper management and plant personnel are informed
Maintain all schedules and customer documents as required. Use database when appropriate
Translate customer program requirements into achievable program plans that satisfy both Piston Interiors and the customer. Inform customers in writing when program milestones are in jeopardy, provide recovery plans and execute
Ensure program is meeting cost targets for each build event and/or ensuring cost recovery for engineering changes
Manage pre-production build events with timelines, material orders/trackers and sample requests to support build quantities/trackers
Manage the engineering change process, by tracking the associated quoting, change releases, tool completion, and plant readiness activities
Develop plans and track the completion of APQP and PPAP information
Adhere to and promote the quality certification process
Resolve cross-functional issues by taking charge and making timely decisions based on facts; maintain team stability by keeping the team focused on the appropriate issues and engage Piston Interiors management as required
Use sound judgment and provide risk assessment/viable countermeasures to Piston Interiors PM management early enough to allow for proper assistance when required
Active interface with OEM and Tier 1 customers and suppliers
Visit customer locations & plants during major milestone events to support the teams when required. Some travel to Mexico and within United States
Participate in improving the program management department by performing special projects and achieving agreed upon objectives
Participate and drive to closure cost savings and process improvement projects, annually
Qualification
Required
Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, PowerPoint and Project
Ability to quickly learn additional software and technology as the opportunity arises
Self-starter with a positive attitude and ability to work independently and in a high-energy team environment
Ability to solve problems, provide solutions and meet deadlines
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience
3-5 years minimum of automotive related experience, along with 2 years minimum in program management
Preferred
Seat and/or interior hard trim (sun visors, armrests, door panels) experience highly preferred
