Responsibilities
Plan, develop and direct the activities of financial management for SMH Physician Services, Inc. (PSI) d/b/a First Physicians Group of Sarasota (FPG)
Set the tone and model positive leadership behavior
Ensure department and division projects and responsibilities are completed successfully in support of organizational goals
Focus on periodic reporting related to monthly accounting close processes, as well as quarterly internal, external reporting and annual Audited Financial Statements
Ensure that reporting is efficient and uniform across the health care system
Lead departmental staff to refine operational processes, maximize system functionality and utilization, and achieve efficiencies of process
Qualification
Required
Require a bachelor's degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting
Require five (5) years of accounting experience for a national or large regional CPA firm or in a medical group health care practice, with at least one (1) year in a supervisory role
Preferred
Prefer Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credentials; or will accept two (2) additional years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a medical group practice setting, in lieu of the CPA or master's degree
Prefer strong written and oral communication skills both within the department, as well as, throughout the organization
Prefer demonstrated ability to take initiative, work with little supervision, and solve problems independently
Prefer demonstrated management skills including motivating and mentoring staff at all levels, training both staff and organizational managers, establishing departmental policies and procedures, and managing human resource staff issues
Prefer demonstrated proficiency in the advanced use of commonly used software applications
Prefer demonstrated proficiency in the use of analytical and time management skills with the ability to prioritize a variety of simultaneous duties and tasks
