Business Development Manager / Sales Leader – Government (Public Sector)
BuzzClan is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager / Sales Leader to drive growth across government and public sector clients. This role involves identifying new business opportunities, managing sales pipelines, and building long-term client relationships within state, local, and federal agencies.

Responsibilities
Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities within state, local, and federal government agencies
Build and manage a robust government sales pipeline, from lead generation to contract award
Develop and execute capture strategies for RFPs, RFIs, RFQs, and sole-source opportunities
Establish and maintain strong relationships with government decision-makers, program managers, and procurement officers
Navigate government procurement processes, including competitive bids, IDIQs, MSAs, and cooperative contracts
Collaborate with proposal, legal, and delivery teams to ensure compliant and competitive responses
Support pricing strategy development in alignment with government cost, compliance, and margin requirements
Serve as a trusted advisor to government clients, understanding their mission, challenges, and funding cycles
Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities within existing government accounts
Maintain high levels of client satisfaction and long-term contract renewals
Work closely with recruiting, delivery, technical, and proposal teams to ensure successful execution of awarded contracts
Provide market insights, competitive intelligence, and pipeline forecasts to leadership
Represent the company at government conferences, industry events, and networking forums
Qualification
Required
10+ years of experience in business development or sales within the government/public sector
Proven track record of winning and growing government contracts
Strong knowledge of government procurement and contracting processes
Experience selling IT services, staffing, consulting, or technology solutions to government clients
Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
Ability to manage multiple opportunities and long sales cycles
Comfortable working in a compliance-driven environment
Preferred
Experience with state and local government agencies (health, transportation, public safety, education, etc.)
Familiarity with federal contracting vehicles (GSA, GWACs, IDIQs)
Understanding of RFP/RFQ response processes and capture management
Existing network of government contacts is a strong plus
Experience working with staffing or systems integrator firms
