Departmental Analyst 9-12
The State of Michigan's Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) is seeking a Departmental Analyst in the Licensing Section to help protect consumers and maintain public confidence in Michigan's insurance industry. The role involves reviewing insurance licensees for compliance, researching misconduct reports, and coordinating case priorities while serving as a liaison with regulatory bodies.

Responsibilities
Review active insurance licensees to ensure they are complying with applicable requirements
Research and review reports of misconduct, including insurer appointment terminations for cause, disciplinary actions taken by other states, and other compliance issues, using information from insurers, licensees, agencies, background checks, and industry data
Maintain records on compliance cases and associated data
Coordinate case priority and prepare case summaries and detailed compliance action referrals
Monitor enforcement of licensees and actions
Serve as the liaison for the Licensing Section with the Office of General Counsel and other states’ insurance department regulators
Qualification
Required
Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major
Departmental Analyst 9: No specific type or amount of experience is required
Departmental Analyst 10: One year of professional experience
Departmental Analyst P11: Two years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate (10) level in state service
Departmental Analyst 12: Three years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the experienced (P11) level in state service
Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and the equivalent of at least two years of full-time active-duty experience at or above the E-6 level in the uniformed services may be substituted for the education requirement
