The Intern will support field and office activities across environmental consulting projects, learning industry-standard sampling methods and data quality practices while assisting with various responsibilities including data management and reporting.

Responsibilities

Field support & sampling: Assist with collection of soil, groundwater, surface water, and air samples; operate basic field instruments; document observations and site conditions. Participate in utility coordination and site readiness where applicable

Data management: Log chain‑of‑custody information, organize lab results, and prepare data tables/figures for internal review. Help with QA/QC checks to ensure data accuracy

Reporting & communication: Draft sections of field notes and technical memos; contribute to environmental site assessments (Phase I/II ESA) by compiling records, photos, and figures; communicate progress with the project team

Safety & quality: Complete pre‑task planning, follow safety guidelines and standard operating procedures, and raise any safety concerns promptly. Participate in the firm’s quality management practices. (40‑hour safety training is provided prior to field work.)

Logistics & support: Transport equipment and documentation between office, field sites, and labs; assist technicians or professional staff on routine tasks; help set up equipment in the field

Qualification

Required

Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or a related field; rising junior or senior preferred

Strong attention to detail; ability to follow written procedures and document work clearly

Proficiency with MS Excel/Word; familiarity with GIS a plus

Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

Willingness to work outdoors in varying conditions and lift/carry equipment as needed

Local/regional travel to project sites; occasional early starts based on field schedules
