Responsibilities
Manage files from intake through trial: pleadings, discovery, motion practice, depositions, mediations/arbitrations, and trial preparation
Communicate with clients and carriers; develop litigation strategy and case plans
Take and defend depositions; prepare witnesses and experts
Support a collaborative team culture, including mentoring junior attorneys where appropriate
Maintain high ethical standards and strong professional judgment
Qualification
Required
Active California Bar license + JD from an ABA-accredited law school
4+ years of California civil litigation defense experience (sweet spot: 4–7 years; open to roughly 3–12+ for standout candidates)
Strong, transferable litigation skills (this is not a transactional role)
Willingness to work primarily in-person (at least initially)
Preferred
Experience in one or more of: insurance defense, employment, personal injury, government entities, bad faith
Demonstrated trial experience (first/second chair on meaningful matters)
Plaintiff-side, DA, or public defender background (with the desire to transition into civil defense)
Leadership/mentoring capability and client-facing maturity
