Electrical Engineering Intern - Summer 2026
WSP USA is hosting a summer internship program for students to gain hands-on experience in Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering. The internship involves supporting engineering tasks, learning basic principles, assisting with project work, and adhering to company policies.
Responsibilities
Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills
Learn basic principles of Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering
Assist with hands-on project work, CAD, and preliminary design calculations and analysis
Support preparation of design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates
Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation
Complete training on assigned tasks
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements
Qualification
Required
Actively enrolled in an accredited Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation or Controls Engineering or related, Undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later
Must be 18 or older
Demonstrates interest in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering related to power, Process Instrumentation and controls and has a strong desire to advance skills related to infrastructure projects
Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience
Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects
Proficient in technical writing, spreadsheets, and Computer Aid Design software (CAD) such as AutoCAD 2D/3D and Revit
Basic understanding of power system analysis software and tools using ETAP, SKM Powertools, easy power or equivalent
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship
Preferred
Actively enrolled in an accredited Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation or Controls Engineering, or related, master's degree or PhD program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later
Prior internship and leadership involvement on campus
