GE Aerospace’s Military Materials Systems (MMS) organization is seeking a Metallic Materials Application Engineer (MAE) to provide materials and process definition, qualification, and lifecycle support for engine hardware. The role involves working closely with design and supply chain partners to meet business objectives and ensure safety related to assigned hardware.

Responsibilities

Understand design technical requirements that impact materials and process on assigned hardware and provide guidance to design and manufacturing

Define materials and processes for assigned hardware; reviews/approves hardware drawings & changes to design

Set requirements and disposition initial part qualification and subsequent process/source changes

Resolve M&P related problems in the field or during manufacturing processes

Identify M&P technology gaps and updates strategies within areas related to assigned hardware

Apply lessons learned and best practices from field experience, manufacturing evolutions, property evaluations, and development programs

Provide materials input and participates in design reviews for hardware

Communicate hardware M&P status and results to department and program team members and leadership

Author technical reports for key decisions related to application of materials and processes for assigned hardware

Required

B.S, M.S. or PhD degree in Materials Engineering, Materials Science or Metallurgy

At least 3 additional years of experience in an engineering position

This role requires the successful candidate to maintain a US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. Citizenship. Preference will be given to candidates who currently hold US Government Security Clearance
