Structural Project Engineer II - US Only Madison/Milwaukee, WI

Responsibilities
Accurately and consistently produce structural design and analysis for building components and systems (commercial, industrial, and residential projects)
Perform structural calculations and modeling using industry-standard software; develop clear, organized calculation packages
Prepare and/or contribute to detailed structural drawings, details, specifications, and reports (including coordinated Revit/CAD deliverables as applicable)
Apply relevant building codes and standards; document assumptions and design criteria clearly
Coordinate structural design with architecture and other building systems (MEP), as well as internal disciplines (civil, survey, planning, landscape architecture, development services) to reduce conflicts and redesign
Participate in project meetings and contribute to practical problem-solving (value engineering encouraged - save money without losing performance)
Support project execution by managing your own tasks, meeting deadlines, and communicating status/needs early and professionally
Conduct and/or support site visits, construction observation, and field investigations as needed; provide clear site notes and follow-up
Review shop drawings/submittals and respond to RFIs with support from senior staff as needed
Provide technical assistance, collaboration, and mentorship to peers/junior staff when appropriate
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering
5+ years of experience in structural engineering design and calculations
Work history involving site development residential and commercial properties in civil engineering firms is a plus
Strong grasp of structural engineering fundamentals and the ability to independently produce design calculations
Working knowledge of common codes/standards (examples: IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC, NDS)
Proficiency with structural analysis software and comfort with spreadsheets and documentation
Experience with (or willingness to become highly proficient in) Revit drafting/coordination and standard structural detailing practices
High attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
Effective, professional communication across platforms (in-person, phone, email, Teams, and meetings)
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
Willingness to work occasional extended hours as needed to meet client, project, and/or business demands
