Mechanical Design Engineer
EVONA is an innovative defense, national security, and space technology company building mission-critical systems. The Mechanical Design Engineer will lead complex mechanical designs and support analysis across various domains, contributing to programs of national importance.
Responsibilities
Leading complex mechanical designs across propulsion, actuators, pressure vessels, igniters, and solid rocket motor systems
Owning trade studies, performance analysis, and design optimization across multidisciplinary constraints
Creating and reviewing advanced 3D models and detailed engineering drawings, including GD&T
Supporting analysis across structural, dynamic, and thermal domains to drive confident engineering decisions
Partnering closely with manufacturing and test teams, including additive manufacturing, composites, machining, and assembly
Contributing to system-level decisions around mass, risk, reliability, and overall performance
Supporting testing and validation, including hands-on integration and data analysis
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
Ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance
US citizenship or eligibility under ITAR regulations
Willingness to travel up to 10 percent as needed
Mechanical engineering experience in aerospace, defense, or similarly complex hardware environments
Strong background in mechanical design for high-performance or extreme environments
Deep understanding of materials, including advanced metals, ceramics, and high-temperature applications
Comfortable working across design, analysis, manufacturing, and test
Clear communicator who can document, present, and defend engineering decisions
Preferred
Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
Direct experience with rocket motor design and testing
Experience with propulsion systems, rocket motors, or energetic systems is highly desirable
