Deputy Auditor-Treasurer II (Finance)

Cass County Minnesota is seeking a Deputy Auditor-Treasurer II to assist in maintaining fiscal integrity through centralized accounting and auditing functions. The role involves coordinating accounts payable activities, ensuring compliance with laws, and providing financial reports while also supporting general office functions.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Coordinates all centralized aspects of accounts payable activities and control functions for the maintenance and processing sequences of the Integrated Financial System, including the master file of vendors, chart of accounts, all budget line-item account codes and established dollar amounts
Ensures compliance of all payments with applicable federal and state laws, county policies, rates, public purpose and proper authorization
Provides all IFS reports and custom reports to management for budget reporting, cost analysis, preparation of the annual financial statement, grant cost accounting and reporting, and periodic comparisons of changes in fund balance
Will assist in the preparation of the County’s Basic Financial Statements per Governmental Accounting Standards Board Statement No. 34 and provide detailed information and reports to the State Auditor/private CPA’s as needed in the audit process
Assists the Auditor-Treasurer Recorder Office with general office functions including providing front-line customer service to the public in person and over the phone
Provides assistance in all areas of the Auditor-Treasurer’ Recorder Office including but not limited to general election support, deed processing, tax system inquiry and processing, and tax statement/form issuance and tax receipting
Performs other duties as assigned

Required

Associate degree in accounting
Two years of related experience
Proficient in the use of a personal computer using spreadsheets, word processing, Adobe, and financial applications
Valid driver's license
Sound knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures
Ability to perform basic math calculations
Ability to organize large volumes of work around multiple deadlines and priorities
Ability to analyze cost and financial data and prepare custom reports utilizing spreadsheets and other computer programs
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with county staff and department heads as an accounting resource
Attention to detail and accuracy

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in accounting
Experience in governmental and fund accounting
