Phaxis is seeking a VP, Compliance Technology & Risk Assessment Program Lead who will partner with business and technical teams to modernize compliance risk assessment capabilities. Responsibilities
Lead the enhancement of enterprise risk assessment methodologies, including inherent risk identification, control effectiveness evaluation, and residual risk calculation
Drive the implementation of technology solutions that support automated, data-driven risk assessments and analytics
Partner with compliance stakeholders to ensure consistency in risk frameworks and reporting across multiple regulatory domains
Elicit, analyze, and document complex regulatory and compliance requirements, translating them into clear functional and technical specifications
Support the design of technology solutions aligned with regulatory expectations and internal governance standards
Identify gaps in current processes and recommend improvements to strengthen controls and data integrity
Collaborate with Compliance, Risk, Technology, and third-party vendors to define scope, milestones, and delivery plans
Support end-to-end project execution, from requirements gathering through testing, deployment, and post-implementation review
Maintain project documentation, timelines, and deliverables using standard project management and collaboration tools
Contribute to Agile or hybrid delivery environments supporting large, multi-stakeholder initiatives
Support development and enhancement of compliance platforms such as transaction monitoring, case management, surveillance, and reporting solutions
Ensure system changes align with regulatory requirements and internal compliance standards
Produce clear, senior-level updates on program progress, risks, and outcomes
Support audit, regulatory, and internal governance reviews by providing documentation and analysis
Help establish standardized reporting and dashboards for compliance technology initiatives
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related discipline
10+ years of experience in compliance technology, business analysis, risk management, or IT program delivery within financial services
Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise-scale regulatory or compliance initiatives
Hands-on experience with data and reporting tools, including SQL and modern data platforms (e.g., Oracle, Snowflake)
Experience building or supporting dashboards and reports using BI tools such as Power BI
Familiarity with compliance systems and data models
Strong understanding of financial crime and compliance domains, including AML, sanctions, market surveillance, employee trading, electronic communications monitoring, and regulatory reporting
Working knowledge of global regulatory expectations and supervisory standards (e.g., SEC, Client, data privacy regulations)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate ambiguity
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders
Proven ability to operate in cross-functional, highly regulated environments

Advanced degree preferred
Programming and database expertise is a plus
