Dewberry is a leading professional services firm, currently seeking a Security/Technology (Low Voltage) Designer to support their Technology group within the Engineering Design Center. The role involves providing technical design, overseeing project work, and assisting Project Managers in delivering quality designs while adhering to project budgets and schedules.

Responsibilities

Provide technical design for discipline area

Peer review project work for the discipline area

Work with team members in establishing/improving standards for discipline area

Adherence to project design schedules

Adherence to discipline project budgets

Pay attention to project scope during the design process to identify potential additional services

Provide general updates of projects (status in the process, tasks to complete, percentage complete currently, etc.)

Identify milestone dates when each discipline should provide information, at each phase, to allow sufficient time for good design coordination

Provide 'on-the-spot' advice and decisions, technical and cost estimates

Coordinate with all of the disciplines involved, including outside consultants

Required certifications include: Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD), Certified Protection Professional (CPP), or Physical security Professional (PSP) certifications

Accomplished (3+ years of experience) in low voltage systems including: Structured cabling, both inside and outside plant, Electronic Physical Access Control, Video Surveillance, Intrusion Detection, Overhead Paging, Audio/Visual, Nurse Call, Real Time Locating Systems, Infant (and memory care) Protection, Emergency Responder Radio Communication Systems

Experience in the design of low voltage systems, and an understanding of document preparation utilizing a BIM/Revit platform

Knowledge of the design and construction process

Self-motivated with highly developed verbal, written and interpersonal skills

Well organized with the ability to take detailed notes

Strong conceptual understanding of low voltage systems with general knowledge of system operation, space requirements, and cost
