Benefits Administrator

Responsibilities
Serves as the primary point of contact for employee benefit inquiries and concerns
Accurately processes employee benefit enrollments, changes, terminations, and qualifying life events
Advises employees and provides training on benefits eligibility, plan provisions, regulatory requirements, and coverage options
Plans, organizes, and facilitates the annual open enrollment process and benefits fair
Prepares and distributes benefit-related communications, including open enrollment materials and summary plan descriptions
Builds and maintains effective working relationships with benefit vendors, brokers, and service providers
Administers employee leave programs, including FMLA, MA PFML, Disability, and Workers' Compensation claims
Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state leave laws and regulations
Maintains accurate documentation, tracking, and coordination with vendors and internal stakeholders
Ensures compliance with federal and state regulations governing employee benefits programs, including ERISA, ACA, and HIPAA
Conducts audits and reconciles benefit invoices to ensure accuracy, compliance, and cost effectiveness
Prepares and files required reports and participates in benchmarking studies to evaluate benefit programs against industry standards
Coordinates with the Payroll Administrator to ensure benefit adjustments and recurring deductions are accurately applied and reflected in employee pay records
Provides backup support for the Payroll Administrator, including assistance with the biweekly payroll process
Provides backup support to the HR Operations Manager with processing biweekly timecards
Comply with MassHousing' s Information Security Program and all other Agency information security policies and procedures
Take responsibility for any Agency assets assigned to you
Promptly report any security events, incidents, or weaknesses to MassHousing' s Information Security Team
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field or equivalent years of experience
2+ years of professional experience in benefits administration
Working Knowledge of employee benefit programs, including deferred compensation 457(b), health insurance, flexible spending, dental, vision, disability, and voluntary benefits
Knowledge of applicable benefit-related laws and regulations, including ACA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, OBRA, Social Security, ERISA, HIPAA, and Workers' Compensation
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Eligibility to work in, and travel freely to and from, the United States without sponsorship
Preferred
PHR, SHRM-CP, or CEBS Certification
Proficiency with HR Information Systems
Familiarity with payroll processing and coordination
