Responsibilities
Operates heavy equipment as needed including tractors, forklifts, and boom truck crane
Performs daily preventive maintenance on equipment and tools according to the manufacturer’s recommendations
Utilizes heavy equipment, power tools, and hand tools in order to maintain grounds and make repairs to buildings, facilities, and utilities structures
Also performs flagging, tree work, and must work from elevated platforms with boom trucks and forklifts
Assists in the renovation, repairs, and modifications of structures, buildings, and facilities as directed
Operates heavy equipment for cleaning and resurfacing percolation ponds at wastewater facilities as required by the Department of Environmental Protection and facility operating permit
Safe and efficient operation of vehicles, heavy equipment, hand and powertools.(chainsaw, skill saw, etc.)
County employees are required to report for work during a state of emergency and are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations which may include duties other than those specified in this job description
Qualification
Required
High school graduate or equivalent (GED)
Two (2) years of experience in semi-skilled building and grounds maintenance or a combination of education and field experience
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License with a good driving record as defined by current insurance carrier
Must possess or be capable of obtaining within 90 days FEMA ICS100, ICS200 and ICS700 NIMS certification
Knowledge of all phases of maintenance, renovation, plumbing, drywall, and roof repairs
Knowledge of safe practices and techniques based on experience with and utilizing heavy equipment around co-workers
Knowledge of safe, efficient, and effective use of equipment, hand, and power tools
Knowledge of the proper use of electrical test equipment and other diagnostic tools in building and equipment maintenance
Knowledge of building codes for accessibility
Ability to read and interpret sketches and blueprints
Ability to make time and material estimates
Ability to identify safety and structural problems
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with departments, associates, and the general public
Preferred
