Recreation Assistant - Liberty Ambassador
USAJOBS is seeking a Recreation Assistant for the Non-Appropriated Fund Morale, Welfare and Recreation Branch at Naval Support Activity Panama City, Florida. Responsibilities
Represents and serves as an advocate and educator for the installation MWR Program with a focus on Junior Sailor recreational programming
Assists with the development of installation Single Sailor Liberty programming by collecting information, offering insight, generating initiatives that target the Junior Sailor population, and gathering feedback from Junior Sailors on desired programs, accessibility, and availability
Manages the feedback process for program initiatives and improvements through daily one-on-one service member interactions and discussions
Conducts the administration of customer feedback surveys and provides comprehensive reporting on results as required
Assists with the development of contemporary marketing and engagement strategies, incorporating social media for efficient information dissemination and program feedback
Assists MWR Marketing in creating, developing, and maintaining a strong social media brand presence, including video and photo content
Provides recommendations for improving the MWR and Liberty Programs and marketing strategies based on feedback
Distributes promotional and advertising materials and provides specific information on planned events to the Junior Sailor population
Serves as the subject matter expert (SME) on needs, preferences, and engagement level of the Junior Sailor population onboard the installation
Promotes current and future MWR Program initiatives with the primary objective of increasing Junior Sailor and Liberty eligible customer engagement translating to increased program utilization and expansion of healthy physical and social lifestyle activities within the targeted community
Assists MWR point of contact in recruitment and coordination of Liberty Ambassador Advisory Board members
Serves as a member of the MWR Liberty Ambassador Advisory Board
In collaboration with MWR, plans, presides over and facilitates monthly installation level Junior Sailor Liberty programming planning meetings
Provides support to MWR staff by assisting in the execution of Liberty trips, outings, and programming, including support for MWR activities and trips, program scheduling, and contributions to after-action reports
Engages in discussions and may be required to brief leadership, such as the MWR Director and/or Installation Commanding Officer
Assists in developing and maintaining reports as required
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Must be Active Duty military (E-5 or below) currently assigned to Naval Support Activity Panama City. Must provide a copy of your orders and approval from your Command with your application
Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms
Must successfully pass the E-verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment
You must go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9
Must provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National
A valid State driver's license is required to operate motor vehicles
Must have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer
Must submit a Special Request Authorization (NAVPERS 1336/3 Rev. 10-2011) form with resume
Must have or be able to obtain and maintain automated external defibrillator certification, blood-borne pathogen certification, and Navy basic fitness certification
Must be able to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Written Inquires (NACI), upon hiring and renew every 5 years and/or Child Care National Agency Check with Inquires when there is regular contact with children under 18
Two (2) years of study that include at least 12 semester hours in courses related to recreation (e.g, basic psychology, group dynamics, physical education, arts and crafts, etc.). In Lieu of education, you must have six months or more of general experience AND six months or more of specialized experience. General experience in any type of work that demonstrates your ability to perform the work of the position. Specialized experience includes performing aid or assistance in the organization and administration of recreation activities
One year of specialized experience directly related to the duties described above. Qualifying experience must have been equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression
Preferred
Knowledge of the MWR mission, functions, and programs, and of the policies, regulations, procedures, and reporting requirements governing those programs
Knowledge of the military lifestyle, the unique challenges faced by service members and their families, and the array of services available to address those issues
Skill in communicating with customers to obtain factual information and explain regulations and agency procedures and other organizations involved
Skill in drawing out and organizing relevant information from persons who are often unaware of legal and procedural requirements
Proficiency in grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and professional correspondence format to prepare and edit written correspondence and reports
Knowledge of administrative practices and procedures common to organizations such as those pertaining to areas of responsibility; channels of communication; delegation of authority; preparation and routing of correspondence; mail distribution; filing systems; and requisition/receipt of supplies and services
Knowledge of various office automation software (word processing, spreadsheet, database, graphics, etc.) to produce a wide range of documents that often involve complex formats or extensive editing, or to perform data entry, manipulation and retrieval
Knowledge of the nature and capability of different software packages and the integration compatibilities among different software types
Knowledge of DoD travel procedures, including travel approval procedures, preparation of travel orders and documents, government travel credit card requests, air and ground transportation arrangements, and travel claim forms
