Responsibilities
Developing effective litigation and investigation strategies for assigned cases
Preparing administrative records for judicial review
Obtaining, providing, and evaluating oral, written, and electronic discovery
Pursuing effective motion practice
Negotiating and mediating settlements or trying cases
Providing sound legal advice to state agencies, entities, officials, and employees
Reviewing public records requests and proposed responses
Reviewing proposed regulations for constitutionality and legality
Completing assignments efficiently and on time
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctorate and Tennessee bar admission or ability to apply for admission without examination
Demonstrated excellence in legal research and writing skills
Strong analytical, negotiating, and oral advocacy skills
Five or more years practicing law, with at least some litigation experience
Familiarity with administrative law in Tennessee and matters arising under the UAPA and/or TPRA
The ability to work as part of a team and to explain legal issues to non-attorneys
