Responsibilities
Independently apply engineering knowledge and offer a variety of consultative or evaluative services in various stages of an engineering project, from the design phase of planned projects through completion
Provide consultation, evaluation, planning, systems design, engineering surveys, and/or project oversight in order to ensure work conforms to accepted engineering standards
Provide technical expertise to the Department’s design, construction, ROW and maintenance programs
The incumbent may supervise subordinate technical, engineering, administrative or support staff as required
Overnight assignments, night work and weekend work may be required to support construction operations
Supervising consultant, and or State forces
Managing construction activities to ensure compliance with contract requirements as well as Federal, State, and Local Laws, Rules and Regulations
Assuring the contractor meets high standards of quality and workmanship and overall safety on the project
Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations
Qualification
Required
A New York State Professional Engineer's license and current registration AND a qualifying bachelor's degree or higher as listed below
A New York State Professional Engineer's license and current registration AND one year of full-time qualifying engineering experience as listed below
One year of full-time engineering experience with transportation projects related to highways/roadways, railroads, bridges, airports, waterways, building structures, or traffic management and safety systems
Candidates selected for appointment must provide an original document to prove their citizenship and/or legal right to work in the United States
Candidates for employment must have proper authorization to work in the United States at the time an offer of employment is made
Continued possession of a New York State Professional Engineer's license with current registration is required for continued employment
Your required educational credentials must have been awarded by an educational institution accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the United States (U.S.) Department of Education/Secretary of Education
