Responsibilities
Serve as the on-site representative for transit construction projects, ensuring work is executed per contract plans, specifications, and schedules
Supervise and mentor field staff, engineers, and subconsultants assigned to the project
Lead construction meetings, coordinate with stakeholders, and maintain detailed project documentation
Oversee quality assurance, ensuring work is completed to industry and client standards
Review and process RFIs, change orders, submittals, and claims to keep projects running smoothly
Monitor and enforce safety and environmental compliance, adhering to client and regulatory guidelines
Provide technical expertise to resolve field issues and construction challenges
Qualification
Required
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Resident Engineering for transit/rail projects
Strong expertise in reading and interpreting complex contract documents, specifications, and plans
Proficiency in construction management software, Primavera P6, and Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate with contractors, designers, and transit agencies
Preferred
Professional Engineer's License (PE) in Illinois preferred
