Post Doctoral Associate
University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases. The role involves studying the molecular evolution of Staphylococcus aureus stress-response genes to understand bacterial adaptation to the human host during infection, utilizing various microbiological and biochemical methods.

Study the molecular evolution of Staphylococcus aureus stress-response genes
Understand bacterial adaptation to the human host during infection
Utilize molecular and microbiological methods
Experience with protein overexpression and purification methods
Track bacterial evolution using bacterial WGS in laboratory-based evolution experiments and within the host
Use biochemical, cell biological, and microbiological assays
Genetically manipulate bacterial genes and strains using allelic exchange to test hypotheses
Collaborate with other labs to test hypotheses with in vivo infection models
Qualification
Required
Ph.D. in Microbiology
Ph.D. in Molecular Biology
Ph.D. in Bioinformatics
Ph.D. in Infectious Diseases
Ph.D. in related fields
Strong foundation in molecular and microbiological methods
Experience with protein overexpression and purification methods
Expertise in bacterial WGS
Ability to track bacterial evolution in laboratory-based evolution experiments
Experience with biochemical, cell biological, and microbiological assays
Genetic manipulation of bacterial genes and bacterial strains using allelic exchange
