USF College of Nursing is dedicated to enabling and safeguarding research activity at the University of South Florida. The Sr Sponsored Research Admin is responsible for negotiating, administering, and monitoring complex grant contracts while assisting faculty and Principal Investigators with proposal preparation and compliance with grant administration policies.

Responsibilities

Assists and consults with faculty and PIs during the preparation and development of large, complex grant proposals including those for specific USF Centers, inter-disciplinary, multi-institution, and of a highly specialized nature
Reviews proposals, provides recommendations, drafts modifications, and interprets funding agency guidelines and any applicable regulations as they apply to unique and specific scenarios. Ensures high volume of complex proposals are submitted through appropriate mediums, sent to all necessary parties/agencies, and are received by sponsors on a timely basis. Remains current on Federal and State regulations, specifically focused on changes in policy or regulation and how they may impact grants under the Sr. SRA's purview; advises PI's and relevant stakeholders of changes as appropriate. Monitors upcoming funding sources and opportunities for sponsored research projects. Reviews and submits proposals for private sector sponsors or not-for-profit organizations through USF's Research Foundation. Acts as liaison with the sponsoring agency and Research Foundation staff
Sets up and processes the awarded grant by performing set up procedures in all Enterprise systems and databases, ensuring funds are released per the award guidelines, reviewing the contract for pending restrictions, and reviewing terms for appropriate protocol and research assurances such as IRB, IACUC, or Biosafety considerations. Assists PI with initial budgetary set up forms and procedures and advises PI and appropriate staff of contract terms and conditions, budgetary matters, and compliance considerations. Acts as liaison with PIs, faculty and other departmental grant staff. Notifies and advises PI and department of expenditure restrictions, current expenditure procedures, contract amendments, time extensions, etc. Alerts PIs and grant personnel of compliance issues. Performs continuous monitoring of contract terms and works with Principal Investigators to ensure that the sponsoring agency guidelines and contract terms are adhered to by all parties working on the grant (e.g., USF employees, subcontractors, other Universities, etc.) throughout the life of the contract
Serves as backup to the Assistant Director, and acts as Assistant Director in their absence, including reviewing submissions and documents for approval, assisting other SRA's with managing their workload or answering questions, and representing Sponsored Research at various meetings, conferences, and committees
Assist with training and on-boarding of Sponsored Research Administrators, including hands-on training managing with the new SRA's assigned workload
Negotiates, drafts and reviews complex contracts, subcontracts and amendments with sponsoring agencies to ensure compatibility with University guidelines and mission; identifies items of concern and consults with respective parties (Export Control, Subcontracting and Subrecipient Monitoring, Research Integrity and Compliance, Technology Transfer, General Counsel, etc.) to resolve outstanding matters while protecting the University's Research Enterprise. Provides assistance building complex, multi-line budgets, budget projections, budget justifications, and appropriateness of budgeted items. Assists with determination of appropriate salary levels, percentages of effort, fringe benefit and F&A rates

Required

Bachelor's degree and four years of research administration or other professional administrative experience directly related to the position; or a Master's degree and two years of research administration or other professional administrative experience directly related to the position
Progressively responsible related experience may substitute for the required education on a year for year basis
This position requires a Level I background check
