Senior Architect
The City of New York is seeking a Senior Architect to join the Architecture Unit in the Capital Division. The role involves developing designs and managing projects for new buildings and renovations, ensuring compliance with budgets and schedules while coordinating with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities
Under direction of the Team Leader and Design Director of Architecture, develop designs and bid documents for new buildings and adaptive re-use of existing structures. Produce high quality construction documents for bidding and construction
Manage consulting architects and engineers to produce high quality designs. Develop requests for proposals to obtain consultant services as necessary
Manage all phases of project development from scope definition through construction administration
Develop construction estimates and project schedules for supervisor’s approval. Ensure assigned projects meet approved budgets and schedules
Manage, direct, and coordinate architectural project team(s) and projects designs for in-house and consultant led projects to produce complete, sustainable and technically excellent designs within established schedule and budget
Coordinate with support units and consultants to prioritize workload to ensure schedules are met throughout the process and assistance is provided as needed
Prepare analyses for potential future projects, including cost estimates and conceptual designs as necessary
Review documents for constructability and bid readiness. Generate quantity take-offs and cost estimates for architectural projects once they are funded and the design process formally begins. Ensure documents are submitted to oversight regulatory agencies as required to obtain timely approvals. Review graphic and written design documents to ensure documents effectively convey the project's intent
Provide support throughout the procurement, bidding and construction processes. Ensure design compliance and resolve any construction related issues, through turnover
Represent projects and the Agency to outside organizations such as community boards, community interest groups and other city or state agencies
Sign and seal architectural and other official documents and related applications for agencies having jurisdiction. Coordinate project-specific interagency issues, such as permits, filings and approvals
Participate in development of design standards
Qualification
Required
A valid New York State Registration as an Architect is required
Candidates must have six (6) years of full-time paid experience in architectural work, at least two (2) years of which shall have been as an administrative architect
Preferred
Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Knowledge of and experience with NYC construction regulations
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, PowerPoint and 3D modeling programs
A driver license valid in New York State
