Operating Engineer
Texas Children's Hospital is a community hospital designed exclusively for children, located in Houston. The Operating Engineer will perform operations and maintenance activities on hospital equipment and buildings, ensuring proper functionality of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
Responsibilities
Monitors equipment, responds to alarms, and emergencies and performs maintenance duties in assigned areas to ensure facility equipment and systems are functioning properly
Monitors all operating equipment and systems (boilers, chillers, AHU’s, pumps, air compressors, water heaters, cooling towers, etc.) to ensure they are operating properly and safely at maximum efficiency
Performs engineering rounds and checks equipment for proper operating functionality and performs minor repairs and adjustments as needed
Maintains documentation to accurately record readings on rounds sheets and equipment failures and events in appropriate engineering logs
Performs installation and repairs of failed equipment and parts on utility systems according to established standards and within acceptable timeframes. Follows up to ensure equipment is repaired and functioning properly. Provides notification of equipment shutdowns to appropriate leadership and department personnel
Performs corrective maintenance duties including, but no limited to: replacement of ceiling tiles, floor tile, cove base, light fixtures, bulbs, lamps, and door hardware
Responds to all emergencies as required throughout the hospital property
Performs corrective maintenance duties on buildings, building systems, and equipment as assigned according to standards established by management team
Performs preventive maintenance duties on buildings, building systems, and equipment as assigned according to standards established by management team
Demonstrates ownership for responsibilities in assigned zone and other designated areas
Demonstrates accountability for customer service and professional behavior through personal work ethic, teamwork and effective communication skills
Qualification
Required
H.S. Diploma or GED
3 years' Experience as a service technician
Licenses/Certifications (one of below): STATENG1 - Stationary Engineer, 1st Grade by the City of Houston, STATENG2 - Stationary Engineer, 2nd Grade by the City of Houston, STATENG3 - Stationary Engineer, 3rd Grade by the City of Houston, JRNYPLUM - Journeyman's License Plumbing by the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners, JRNYELEC - Journeyman's License Electricl by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, DLA - Dept of Labor Apprenticeship by the Department of Labor, SMA - Systems Maint Administrator by the Building Owners and Manager Institute International, SMT - Systems Maintenance Technician by the Building Owners and Manager Institute International, MASTELEC - Master Electrician by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, HVACB WC - HVAC State B with C endorse by the Texas Department of Licensing and regulation, ACTECHR - Lic - A/C Tech Registered by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation
