Chief of Trades Parks and Recreation
NEOGOV is seeking a Chief of Trades Parks and Recreation to oversee the maintenance and renovation of County Park facilities. This hands-on role involves supervising personnel and managing projects to ensure safe and visually appealing public spaces.

Responsibilities
Perform and leads skilled work in carpentry, concrete, framing, decking, roofing and general construction to build, repair, and renovate boardwalks, docks, pavilions, shelters, trail features, small buildings, playgrounds, fencing, and site furnishings
Performs troubleshooting, diagnostics, and problem resolution on park facilities and infrastructure, including plumbing, electrical systems, lighting, concrete structures, restrooms, shelters, culverts, drainage components, and signage
Plans, develops, and oversees short- and long-term maintenance and improvement strategies for boardwalks, pavilions, trails, buildings, sports fields, and related turf and irrigation systems
Executes turf care and athletic field maintenance including infield preparation, grading, aeration, top-dressing, overseeding, sod installation, fertilization, pest/weed control, turf renovation, and soil testing
Manages and reviews irrigation systems performance; adjusts programming, repairs heads/valves/lines, and upgrades systems for water efficiency
Operates equipment to include tractors, mowers, aerators, sprayers, skid steers, mini-excavators, chainsaws, chippers, concrete tools, and a wide range of hand/power tools
Oversee assigned personnel, including work assignment, training, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and motivates employees to achieve productivity and quality standards
Coordinates and inspects the work of staff, contractors, and vendors; evaluates completed repairs and projects to ensure adherence to standards, building codes, ADA, and safety regulations
Develops preventive maintenance schedules for parks, facilities, trails, athletic fields, irrigation systems, and equipment
Obtains quotes and conducts procurement of parts, materials, and equipment in accordance with County policies
Enforces safety protocols and ensures work sites are secure and compliant
In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and shall be required to perform alternate duties
Qualification
Required
High School diploma or equivalent
10 years' experience in parks/facilities maintenance, construction, or turf management (golf course/athletic field)
Must possess valid Florida driver's license
Possession of Florida Pesticide Application License or the ability to obtain within 6 months of employment
Preferred
1-2 years supervisory experience preferred
