Responsibilities
Lead the mechanical engineering function in San Luis Obispo, including mentoring and guiding an incumbent engineer
Design advanced mechanical systems integrating sensors, actuators, and electronics into compact, rotating platforms
Drive new product development through a structured New Product Introduction (NPI) framework
Collaborate across global mechanical, electronics, and embedded systems teams to deliver integrated solutions
Manage the enhancement and evolution of existing tools through the engineering change process
Ensure quality standards and reliability are consistently exceeded
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
10+ years of professional experience, including lead or principal engineering responsibilities
Strong proficiency in SolidWorks 3D CAD (including PDM and analytical modules)
Demonstrated ability to design high-performance assemblies for harsh environments
Practical knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, casting, die-casting, and injection molding
Strong three-dimensional spatial reasoning with proven ability to deliver innovative packaging solutions
Leadership ability to guide team members immediately, with clear potential to grow into broader management within 3–4 years
Effective communicator, capable of working collaboratively across global time zones and disciplines
