Senior Manager, Project Management - Capital Projects

Responsibilities
Promotes safe behavior and adherence to the safety rules on the project. Leads the project team to establish leading indicators and proactive requirements to ensure safety is considered in all aspects of design and implementation for contractors, Entergy project team members, and the end user. Ensures contract scope of work includes safety deliverables/requirements as needed
Defines the project organization structure required for the project and identifies the technical skills required to achieve project goals. Works with the appropriate Entergy management to assign appropriately skilled individuals to the Project Team. Prepares contracts and approves requisitions/change orders/invoices. Fulfills role of "Contract Manager" or as Owner's representative as otherwise defined in the project contracts. Issues formal correspondence to Contractors
Leads the project team to develop and execute the Project in accordance with the applicable corporate standards and guidelines. Ensures that team members fulfill the responsibilities as required of their roles. Navigates the project through the Entergy Stage Gate process and coordinates activities to meet the requirements of Entergy's SGP and associated deliverables (estimates, schedules, gates, deliverables, etc.). Oversees the project team in the development of project deliverables. Coordinates the activities of project stakeholders and working groups engaged in project work. Delivers projects with cost and schedule certainty; manages and controls costs; manages risk by identifying and mitigating risks
Provides clear, timely and accurate project status reports for management. Prepares reports and presentations to management. Identifies, makes timely decisions and takes prompt action on project issues that could impact project performance. Promptly communicates issues to the next level of leadership that are outside the authority of capability of the Senior Manager to resolve
Coordinates with all functional departments as required to achieve the requirements of the applicable corporate standards and to achieve project budget and timeline including CC&A, and Supply Chain. Monitors contractor performance in the area of project safety, schedule, cost, quality of work and compliance with contractual requirements
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field or equivalent work experience
Minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in the utility industry with experience in major capital project planning, execution, and control
Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory or leadership experience
Engaged leader with a history of successfully delivering capital projects/portfolios
Solid understanding of project management fundamentals and stage-gate processes focused on delivering T&D projects with cost, schedule and scope certainty
Experienced in risk and contingency management
Skilled at leading and influencing across organizations, partnering with contract firms, negotiation, obtaining stakeholder input and support, driving continuous improvement ideas, improving organizational health, transforming organizations and improving customer centricity
Able to build, motivate and inspire effective teams and leverage team diversity
Significant ability to build partnerships with internal customers, key stakeholders, and contractors
Skilled at managing conflict, providing clear direction/role clarity and developing employees
Able to build productive relationships across the organization and with external parties
Demonstrated ability to lead teams to effectively achieve desired results and lead in a matrixed environment
Understanding of regulatory environments
Strong understanding of project management fundamentals and principles
Extensive knowledge of stage-gate processes and the ability to provide scalability as dictated by project scope
Strong understanding of Engineering, Construction and Project Controls enabling safe, effective project execution
Broad knowledge of transmission and distribution planning, engineering, operations, maintenance, and construction
Strong understanding of, and constructive interaction with, the Power Delivery organization to ensure engineering and operational considerations are incorporated into projects
Understanding of regulatory environments and the role projects play in meeting those objectives
