Electrician I (Public Utilities)
NEOGOV is a part of the Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County, which is seeking an Electrician I to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems for public utilities. The role involves working on various electrical projects, troubleshooting systems, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Responsibilities
Designs, installs, repairs and maintains new and existing electrical equipment, power circuits, control circuits, and lighting circuits, including three phase power systems and analog and digital motor control circuits
Reads and interprets electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, ladder diagrams, and blue prints
Troubleshoots electrical systems
Uses volt-ohm meters, current meters, watt-hour meters, phase rotation meters, and megometers
Uses infra-red temperature gauge in diagnosis of electrical equipment and HVAC systems
Repairs and replaces lighting fixtures for all buildings and facilities for Athens-Clarke County
Performs preventive and corrective maintenance for all equipment, and maintains related records
Operates and maintains generators
Operates various types of heavy equipment such as ditching machines, bucket trucks, and backhoes
Inspects and maintains theft and fire alarm systems, telecommunication and data system cables and connections
Coordinate work with various contractors and inspects new electrical installations for code compliance
Maintains inventory of supplies and parts, ordering replacements when needed
Maintains, repairs, and calibrates flow meters and sampling devices
Responds to emergency service requests as a participant in division's on-call program
Works closely with other Maintenance personnel in multi-craft projects
Maintains records and files reports pertaining to work assignments
Qualification
Required
Vocational or Technical Diploma with two years of electrical construction experience required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job
Valid driver's license required
Knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures as they pertain to the position of Electrician
Knowledge of the standard practices, methods, materials, and tools attributable to electrical systems
Knowledge of electrical and building codes and regulations
Knowledge of the terminology used within the division and within the electrical trade
Knowledge of electrical system installation, repair, maintenance, federal, state, and local electrical codes, and blueprints and electrical schematics
Skill in the use of computers and SCADA software
Skill with the use of various electrician tools and equipment and other construction equipment
Skill in the use and operation of various electrical, and construction tools and equipment
Ability to diagnose and correct electrical problems
Ability to supervise and train electricians and maintenance technicians in the repair and replacement of electrical fixtures
Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, work crews, and other staff members
Ability to use independent judgment in routine and non-routine situations
Ability to handle required mathematical calculations
Ability to plan, organize and/or prioritize daily assignments and work activities
Ability to comprehend and apply regulations and procedures of the division
Ability to maintain an assortment of records, reports, and information in an effective manner
Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including utility truck, bucket truck, trenching machine, drills, ladders, hand trucks, circuit testers, hand tools and various other electrical and construction equipment
Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials
This position requires: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing
Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently
Preferred
Possession of a Georgia State Unrestricted Electrical Contractor's License is preferred
One year of supervisory experience preferred as applicable for assigned Department
