Responsibilities

Designing and conducting experimental studies to investigate the relationship between brain function, glucose regulation, and metabolic processes
Developing and applying advanced methodologies (Microscopy Immunohistochemistry, DNA/RNA isolation quantitative PCR Immunoblots) to study neural circuits involved in glycemic control
Analyzing the effects of glucose metabolism on brain activity and systemic metabolic homeostasis
Collecting, processing, and interpreting quantitative and qualitative data using statistical software and bioinformatics tools
Preparing manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals
Presenting findings at scientific conferences, seminars, and institutional meetings

Qualification

Ph.D. in relevant fieldNeurobiology of metabolic controlMolecularCellular biologyHypothesis-driven researchStatistical software proficiencyResearch manuscript preparationPresentation skills

Required

Ph.D. in a relevant field such as: Neuroscience, Physiology, Endocrinology or Metabolism, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Sciences
Expertise in one or more of the following areas: Neurobiology of metabolic control and glucose sensing, Brain-metabolism interactions (e.g., hypothalamic regulation of glucose homeostasis), Metabolic physiology, including glucose metabolism, insulin signaling, and energy balance, and/or ​Neuroimaging or in vivo techniques to study neural circuits
Experience designing and executing hypothesis-driven research with a strong publication record
Proficiency in laboratory techniques, such as molecular and cellular biology (e.g., qPCR, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry), animal models, in vivo and ex vivo electrophysiology, optogenetics, or chemogenetics, metabolic assays, and/or imaging methods
