Senior Attorney (Commercial Law) | Palo Verde

Responsibilities
Serve as a trusted legal advisor to leaders and project teams, providing clear, business-aligned guidance on commercial matters
Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including procurement, licensing, vendor, and operational contracts
Build strong internal relationships by listening, advising, and partnering with stakeholders across operations, supply chain, finance, and engineering
Identify legal risks and propose practical solutions that support business goals while protecting the company’s interests
Manage and influence commercial strategy throughout the contract lifecycle, from negotiation through execution
Collaborate across teams to support corporate initiatives, process improvements, and the rollout of new business practices
Independently perform a variety of legal services, which involve a high level of complex and difficult legal and/or factual issues in connection with every phase of the Company's operations
Counsel officers and senior management in the development of strategy regarding negotiations, disputes, claims, litigation/administrative proceedings, etc., by recommending specific courses of action based on extensive research, investigation, analysis, and experience
Provide preliminary instruction, monitor performance of assignments, review soundness of approach/arguments and application of legal principles of outside counsel retained by the company
Direct and coordinate the workflow of project teams, while maintaining positive working relationships with internal and external customers
Qualification
Required
5–8 years of commercial, corporate, or transactional law experience
Strong background drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements
Skilled at translating legal considerations into practical guidance that supports operational decision-making
Able to build trust, influence stakeholders, and communicate clearly with leaders at all levels
Approachable, collaborative, and skilled at working with diverse teams across the organization
Degree from an accredited law school
Licensed state bar member in good standing
May be required to become a member of the State Bar of Arizona
Five (5) years of experience with significant exposure to corporate clients and the types of legal issues regularly faced by large public companies
Preferred
Experience in an in-house legal department or as outside counsel to large organizations
