Responsibilities
Identifying, planning, recommending and completing technical programs leading to innovative applications and extensions of existing and new technologies having major importance to division/staff business
Establish extensive intra-divisional interactions and initiate inter-divisional interactions to develop a network of support (technical, manufacturing, engineering, sales and marketing) to facilitate completion of programs
May participate in technical strategic planning
Document experimental data/observations in technical notebooks (or approved electronic files), prepare reports, and make oral presentation
May also be required to provide technical supervision/management of other contingent technical workers

Minimal work direction needed
Highly skilled and knowledgeable to the position
Provides best practice sharing within work group
Assume leadership of technical programs of major importance to division/staff interests
Involves scientific research/understanding, applied technology, and product or process innovations
Maintain a flow of major technical contributions such as material/product/process innovations and understandings
Document and communicate these via Records of Invention, patents, internal reports, technical presentations and/or publications
Usually reports to a supervisor or manager
